What to Expect:

July and August bring hotter days but the temperatures don't often get to 80. Mosquitoes need still ponds to breed and most of our water runs down hill - so they're simply not a problem. There is so much here to do in the summer and places can be very busy especially on weekends. For a quieter time, come during the week!  Days are warm, ideal for picnics, hikes and canoeing while nights are cool (bring a sweater). After Labor Day the roads are a lot quieter making scenic drives more pleasant. Early to mid-September is definitely the best time to visit. Though the temperatures may be a little more unpredictable, the crowds are gone.

Ideas:
• Hike the trails in the Pisgah National Forest (Linville Gorge, Tablerock, Brown Mountain, Wilson Creek)
• Spend a day exploring Grandfather Mountain
• Rent a canoe or kayak for the day
• Take our itinerary and tour the bike routes Lance Armstrong practices on.
• Take a picnic to the Blowing Rock
• Spend the day exploring Linville Caverns and Linville Falls!
