Visual Arts supports the teaching mission of Appalachian State University by
providing regionally significant exhibitions, education, and outreach programs
which assist the students, faculty, staff, and community in the realization of
their creative and critical potential. Underlying the teaching mission of the
Turchin Center is the belief that the arts play a vital role in experiencing,
interpreting, understanding, recording, and shaping culture. The Turchin Center

community participation in - and ownership of - the arts. The exhibition
program, specialized educational services, and collaborative programs expand
Appalachian State University's role as a key regional educational and cultural
resource, and create a vital space where the community experiences and
incorporates the power and excitement of the arts into their lives.
